A MAN who was wanted by police in connection with an assault on his wife has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Graham Taite, aged 66, sparked a manhunt when he disappeared from his home in Atholl Close, Ladybridge, earlier this week following a row.
His wife was taken to hospital with serious head injuries shortly after her husband left the house, but is now back home and recovering.
Following Mr Taite's disappearance, detectives took the unusual step of releasing details of the alleged incident and a picture of Mr Taite in a bid to trace him.
Mr Taite was eventually arrested when police received a tip-off that his car was parked at Morrisons in Bolton town centre.
A police spokesman said on Saturday: "A 66-year-old man is in custody and will be questioned throughout the day."
