KEVIN Davies has given Wanderers a fitness boost as they prepare to pick up where they left off, riding the crest of a winning wave.
The Whites' spearhead striker, who limped out of the victory over Spurs with a rib injury, has declared himself fit for Monday's Premiership game at struggling Birmingham City.
Davies revealed that it was a clash with Zenit St Petersburg's Norwegian defender, Erik "The Panzer" Hagen, that caused the initial problem, which he aggravated in the first half of the Spurs game after teeing up Kevin Nolan's matchwinner.
"I got the knock against the Russians," Davies confirmed. "The big guy did me. He came back and said 'sorry' afterwards, it was just one of those things.
"It had been uncomfortable in training and playing but, when I went out after half-time against Spurs, it was just too painful. But I've had a rest - I went down to Spain for a few days - and I've trained the last two days and had no problems."
Henrik Pedersen, however, is struggling to overcome the Achilles problem that has caused him problems in the past and kept him out of the last three games.
The Dane, who has made a remarkable transformation from striker to left-back this season and was ever-present in the Premiership before he was sidelined, is still not back in training.
"I've only managed two days off during the international break, because I've been having treatment," Pedersen said. "It's improving but I've not done any running yet.
"I've been troubled by the injury for a while now. It's something that has been caused by too many games."
