GREEN with pride not envy - that was Christopher Barrow at this year's Young Environmentalist of the Year Award.
The Egerton Primary School pupil netted the junior runner-up prize in the annual competition- run by the Young People's Trust for the Environment - for his DVD "Help Save Our Planet". It promotes the importance of being environmentally conscious. He received his award at a glittering star-studded ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel in London.
Christopher said: "I was really pleased. I spent a lot of time putting the DVD together and doing research to make the film. I am fascinated about the effects that global warming is having on the planet and it does worry me. That is why I decided to enter the competition."
Christopher spent just over two weeks putting together the seven minute film on global warming and recycling.
He said: "I would like to make documentary films on environmental issues when I am older to raise awareness of how important they are and how we should really start taking them seriously. The award ceremony was really exciting. I also got autographs from the celebrities including Patrick Stewart."
As well as receiving a signed certificate, Christopher also received £50 worth of WH Smith Vouchers.
