A PENSIONER involved in a collision while he was over the legal limit for alcohol is unlikely ever to drive again, a court was told.
Alan Litler (65), of Malton Avenue, Whitefield, admitted driving in Bury Old Road, Prestwich, with more than twice the legal level of alcohol in his system.
Bury magistrates banned Litler from driving for two years and fines and costs totalling £256 were imposed.
A test showed he had 89 microgrammes of alcohol in 100millilitres of breath. The legal level is 35mg. Defending, Mr Roger Taylor explained that the defendant was a man of previous good character and had never been in court before. He said that because of his physical infirmity, Litler was thinking of surrendering his licence.
