DRIVERS face months of disruption along Bolton Road as work starts on building a bus corridor between Haig Road and Crostons Road.
The widened A58 will help buses travelling into Bury town centre while the new Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) system should improve journey times for passengers, especially in the morning rush hour. AVL recognises when buses are running late and can change the lights to green as the bus gets to the junction.
Traffic lights will be installed at the junction with Ainsworth Road to ease congestion and help walkers to cross the road. A pedestrian refuge will also be built near Haig Road.
The work will last for 30 weeks, and highways bosses apologise for any delays.
