WIGAN and Leigh College has been shortlisted for the S2W (Skills to work) Awards - awards for innovation in workforce development.
The awards were open to any North West firm or organisation that has implemented innovative staff training programmes.
Organised by Manchester Enterprises, the economic development agency for the Greater Manchester area, the S2W Awards attracted huge numbers of entries from companies from a wide range of sectors across the region.
Wigan & Leigh College has been nominated for setting up the 'Business Networking Academy' which provides training courses for employees of local companies. The college has been shortlisted in the category for 'Innovation in Workforce Development in Education and Training Sectors.
The winners will be announced at the S2W Awards Dinner on Thursday, November 17 at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel, in Manchester.
The awards are part of the Skills to Work conference - the annual workforce development conference for the North West. Also taking place on Thursday 17th November, the one-day conference will give delegates a chance to address some of the most important skills issues facing the region and explore how workforce development can benefit North West industries and businesses.
