MARIE Curie Cancer Care has launched an appeal to care for local cancer patients this Christmas.
The charity is recruiting now for volunteers to help raise money at a local supermarket in the next few weeks. Giving just two hours of time this Christmas will help raise enough money to cover the cost of a whole night's nursing care for someone terminally ill with cancer in Leigh and Atherton.
Collections are taking place at the Asda store on Atherleigh Way in Leigh, and at the Tesco store on Crabtree Lane in Atherton, on Friday and Saturday December 2 and 3. The money raised will provide one-to-one nursing care for terminally ill people in their own homes this Christmas.
"Christmas is the time of year when we all want to be in the comfort of our own home with our loved ones. By giving just a couple of hours this Christmas, you can help people terminally ill with cancer to be cared for in their own homes, with their family around them," said Marie Curie Cancer Care fundraiser Stephen Tongue.
Everything volunteers need to make their collections will be supplied by the charity, including an official Marie Curie Cancer Care tabard and collecting tin.
