I MOVED to Ramsbottom in 1997 from Walshaw and I now wish I had not.
Ramsbottom once resembled a happy and pleasant place to live, but no more.
After dark, Ramsbottom is a no-go area in certain areas with groups of youths ruling the streets causing havoc and mayhem.
I daren't go to the the local shops now as there is often a 20-strong group hanging around outside and I feel intimidated and threatened, so I stay indoors. Also my son was beaten up recently outside an off-licence by a group of youths who had asked him to get them some alcohol. My son refused and was punished for it.
Why do the parents of these yobs do nothing? I'll tell you why - because they are thinking that they are at friends' houses being all goody-goody.
What parents should do is open their eyes and get out there into Ramsbottom to see for themselves what their little 'angels' are doing.
The same also goes to the the yob boy-racers who treat Whittingham Drive like a race track. Most evenings the Whittingham estate resembles Silverstone, yet there is no police presence to cut out this anti-social behaviour.
My windows rattle every evening with the reverberating exhausts.
Thank goodness my house is up for sale . . . I cannot wait to move to a more pleasant place.
