I was walking around a car boot sale on Sunday when the signal for the two minutes' silence sounded.

I stopped to observe the silence, and was stunned to look around me and see that not one person in my line of vision had stopped what they were doing.

There must have been upwards of 100 people, and they were all going about their business as usual.

I couldn't believe it.

Surely our dead deserve more respect.
