MIKE Flynn is hoping a loan spell at Hyde United can resurrect his Accrington Stanley career.

The experienced central defender has joined the Conference North side for a month after failing to figure in Reds manager John Coleman's plans in recent weeks.

Flynn, who is training twice a week with Stanley and twice a week with Hyde, is aiming to maintain his match fitness should he return to the Interlink Express Stadium.

But if the 36-year-old is no longer required by Coleman, who is due to welcome back Andy Tretton after injury within the next fortnight, Flynn insisted there would be no hard feelings if he is required to leave the club.

"My last game was against Worcester in the cup last month. I'm in the twilight of my career and I just want to be playing as much football as I can," he said.

"Circumstances at Accrington meant I wasn't going to be first choice week in, week out, so it was decided between myself and the management staff to look for other options.

"It was a bit of a shock initially, after starting the season in the team and us doing so well.

"But things change in football from day to day. The management team made their decision and, as a player, I've got to stand by that.

"It's up to me to prove them wrong. But I won't be bitter."

Flynn, who featured in Hyde's 3-3 draw with Leigh at the weekend, added: "The manager said the door wasn't shut at Accrington, but I'm not in his immediate plans so it's been good to go on loan and keep myself fit if an opportunity was to arise at Accrington again.

"Some people might look at my move to Hyde as a backward step, but it's first team football.

"If my long term future isn't at Accrington I've got to start looking at things after that and after football."
