WITH reference to the Middlebrook Bog. The news that mistakes had been made is of little surprise, given the record of our council.
However, the casual way in which this is brushed aside by Cllr Ronson is little short of disgraceful.
To spend £1.5 million on a transaction of £4.8 million is wrong.
One would presume then that someone paying a council tax bill of £1,000 is OK to pay £700.
The philosophy is the paying being correct, just the procedures slightly wrong.
Tell that to the person parking two inches over the white line on a council car park, and see how the plea of only being slightly wrong is treated by the councils parking enforcers.
There is also reference to rights and assets being acquired by the council. These need to be quantified.
How many times has the Reebok been used for community events since it was built, and what are the other assets which came into the council ownership?
This is a serious matter and deserves a full and comprehensive investigation. Our councillors seem to have forgotten they were elected to serve the residents of Bolton, not rule them.
