SAM Allardyce is calling on FIFA and UEFA to introduce an insurance scheme to compensate clubs when their players are unable to play on their return from international duty due to injury or excessive fatigue.
The Wanderers boss wants national associations to be forced to pay up when clubs have been robbed of their players' services as a result of their international exertions.
Allardyce is keen to see the issue resolved quickly as he could lose five players to the African Nations Cup finals early next year.
He said: "Insurance is the word for it, and it is my solution.
"I think there is a case to be made, when your players who go on international duty return injured and cannot play for you, that you get compensation for that.
"I think it is the very least that we should have and as quickly as possible because we pay these lads a lot of money to play football.
"If they can't play for you, through no fault of your own, I don't see why we should still have to fork out the wages."
