ACCRINGTON Stanley dedicated Saturday's victory over Grays Athletic to the brother of captain Peter Cavanagh, who died after being attacked in Liverpool city centre.
The players and assistant manager Jimmy Bell warmed up before Saturday's televised game in T-shirts printed with a picture of the 22-year-old Royal Navy sailor on the front and the words "RIP Tony" over the top.
And they pointed to assistant manager Jimmy Bell's T-shirt after scoring in the 2-1 win.
After the game, manager John Coleman said: "I was made up for the lads, and for Peter. He made them promise that they would win and I think the spirit of the lads showed."
Cavanagh did not travel to the game -- Stanley's 100th Conference appearance - as it had been Anthony's funeral the day before.
Coleman added: "It's been a very emotional week for the lads, and for Peter. We are glad that we've been able to put a little bit of a smile back on his face."
A 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with Tony's death last month then bailed by police.
