A MAN told a court on Tuesday he bludgeoned A-Level student Anthony Walker to death with an ice axe.
Paul Taylor, 20, who had originally denied the murder, changed his plea and pleaded guilty to killing the 18-year-old in the Huyton area of Merseyside shortly after the trial opened at Liverpool Crown Court.
Anthony was attacked in July with an ice axe as he walked his girlfriend to a bus stop late at night.
His cousin, Marcus Binns was with the couple at the time.
Sky News' Mike McCarthy said Taylor changed his plea after discussions with his legal team.
The case has been adjourned until Wednesday.
Another man, Michael Barton, 17, denies Anthony's murder and conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm. He is set to go on trial in Liverpool.
Judge Mr Justice Leveson is not expected to sentence Taylor until Barton's trial is over.
