PETER Kay is venturing further into the world of pop after making the video for pop band Texas' next single.

After the success of his musical comedy project with the Tony Christie hit Amarillo, Peter has written and directed the video to go with the Texas song, Sleep, due to be released on January 9.

Peter revealed his involvement with the project, which began after he met lead singer Sharleen Spiteri at the Live 8 concert in Glasgow earlier this year, in a rare interview on Radio One in the Colin and Edith Show.

Peter, who is still best known for the hilarious Phoenix Nights comedy show, also discussed the possibility of the programme, featuring wheelchair bound club owner Brian Potter, making his return to television screens.

"There is more chance of them bringing back hanging," he joked at first before admitting that he still loves the Brian Potter character, who he based on a couple of people he met.

"It will be back one day. I am writing down things all the time," he said.

In the New Year, he and Paddy McGuinness will be bringing out their own spoof fitness video, titled The Power of Two but P eter says there are no plans in the pipeline yet for another stand-up tour

"I am still coming down from the last tour," he said.

For now, Peter says he is enjoying spending time with his son, Charlie and admits being a dad is proving a fertile source of new material.

Christmas with his family in Bolton is something the comic is looking forward to.
