FAKE £20 notes have been found in circulation in Bury.
Residents and retailers are being warned to be on the lookout for the counterfeit money.
Since the middle of October, officers have noticed an increase in the number of forged notes that have been reported.
A number of these have had the same serial number, PF20695103.
Sergeant Simeon Holt said: "If a business is presented with a fake note they should try to take down as much information as possible about the person who gave it to them, this includes any distinguishing features and details of a car.
"If a member of the public is suspicious about the authenticity of the note tell the retailer and ask for an alternative note. If they do not notice the note until they have left the shop they should take it to their local police station and hand it in at the front desk."
