FORMER snooker champion John Spencer swapped his cue for a pen on Saturday when he signed copies of his autobiography at Radcliffe Snooker Club.
Mr Spencer, aged 70, of Tipton Close, Radcliffe, won the world title three times during his career, but was forced to retire from the sport after being diagnosed with a rare muscle condition, Myasthenia Gravis.
Out Of The Blue Into The Black is the story of his struggle with the disease, his early life in wartime Manchester, his snooker career and his memories of the men whom he played alongside.
Mr Spencer, who was diagnosed last year with terminal cancer, recently completed a 13,000ft parachute jump with the Red Devils display team to raise awareness and funds for the Myasthenia Gravis Association.
Some of the proceeds from the book will also go to the charity, which helps support sufferers of the disease through its 57 support groups throughout the UK.
His book, priced £17.99 including post and packing, can be purchased from the MGA on 01332 290219.
