LONDON'S Park Lane may be familiar to many of Harlequins' players, officials and supporters, but Sedgley Park's Park Lane ground in Whitefield will be a new experience for the majority of the capital's glamour rugby team.
Quins visit north Manchester for the first ever time on Saturday, February 12, for a National Division One game and Sedgley have already made it an all-ticket affair, with upwards of 3,000 expected to swell the crowd.
"We can't wait for the game and we are looking forward to welcoming a big crowd here," said Sedgley president, Geoff Roberts.
"There will be the usual refreshment facilities available, although our pre-game lunch in the function room was sold out months ago."
Among the high profile names hopefully winging their way 'up north' for the Londoners, will be All Black legend Andrew Mehrtens, World Cup winner and former British Lion Will Greenwood, former Springbok skipper Andre Voss, Argentine international Pablo Bouza, former England international Tony Diprose, Irish international Gavin Duffy, Samoan internationals Tani Fuga and Steve So'oialo and England international Mike Worsley.
Harlequins were formed in 1866 and home for them is the Twickenham Stoop, a mere penalty kick away from the home of English rugby, Twickenham Stadium.
Tickets for the game are priced £12 for adults and £5 for senior citizens and children 16 and under. They can be obtained from the clubhouse, by contacting Geoff Roberts on 07793184818, or by sending a cheque (made payable to Sedgley Park RUFC) along with an SAE to: Sedgley Park RUFC, Park Lane, Whitefield, Manchester, M45 7DZ.
l Park Lane's biggest crowd to date - 3,000 - saw Sedgley lose 3-53 to London Wasps, on Saturday, January 9, 1999, in the Tetley Bitter Cup.
