A MOTORIST was offered a job as a travelling salesman - just a day after he was caught for drink-driving.
Keith Pilkington told Bury magistrates: "I'm so angry and annoyed with myself. I know I'm not going to get that job now."
The bench banned him from the road for 16 months.
Pilkington, aged 53, an out-of-work salesman, of Marston Close, Whitefield, admitted driving in Marston Close with 65 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
As well as the disqualification, Pikington was fined £220 with £45 court costs to pay.
Pilkington told the court: "I am embarrassed and ashamed because I've let a lot of people down, principally my new partner and her son.
"I was getting my life together and searching for jobs. I got a job offer through the post the morning after the incident.
"I know I'm not going to get that job now. I'll try for an in-house salesman's job, although it won't pay as much."
