AN organisation which gives relationship counselling is appealing for willing volunteers to come forward.
Relate in Bury is anxious to recruit more would-be counsellors and people with skills in management, public relations, law and other sectors to serve as trustees on its board of directors.
The service is also involved in counselling for young people affected by troubled home relationships in eight schools in the borough and delivers counselling to families with communication and relationship difficulties During this year, Relate estimate they will deal with 1,200 appointments.
Catherine Ivatts, clinical practice manager with Relate Bury said: "We would like to deliver more. We need more counsellors for the borough and people with skills to be willing to be a trustee on our board."
Training will be given to prospective counsellors and, according to Relate, their work is personally challenging and stimulating. Training is combined with placements, according to individual qualifications, and volunteers will be given transferable personal and professional skills and knowledge.
