THE jury considering a verdict in the trial of a deputy headteacher facing four charges of indecent assault is expected to return on Friday.
Frederick Peter Barton, aged 56, of Hough Fold Way, Harwood, is accused of indecently assaulting two girls in incidents that go as far back as 1973.
Bolton Crown Court was told this week that Barton, deputy headteacher at Mount St Joseph's School in Farnworth, touched the first girl, who was then aged 14, when she was babysitting at his home in March 1973.
He is also alleged to have assaulted the same girl at Christmas 1974.
A second woman claimed that Barton sexually assaulted her twice, in 1976 and again in 1979. Barton, who previously taught at Deane Grammar School, denies all four charges.
