COACH SMASH: A coach carrying Tottenham Hotspur supporters home after their teams 2-1 defeat at Burnley had one of its windows smashed by stone while parked in Walmersley Road, Bury.
COLLAPSE: Angry residents of Britain Street, Bury, are due to hold a public meeting after claiming their homes are being destroyed by a new sewer 25ft below the ground. They are fighting for compensation. Following the sewer work, which began in 1976, large cracks have appeared in several houses in Britain Street.
FIREMAN: Fire extinguisher salesman Mr Geoffrey Hodson (33), was able to put his product to the test when he tackled a blaze at a neighbour's home and rescued two children. After being alerted to the fire in Redwing Road, Greenmount, he grabbed a supply of the fire equipment he had for his business and fought the outbreak until fire crews arrived.
JUBILEE: The £20,000 aim of the Queen's Silver Jubilee appeal fund in Bury has been topped and it is probable that the final figure will be over £24,000. The news was given by Greater Manchester Lord Lieutenant Sir William Downward during a lunch at Bury Town Hall.
