I WOULD like to bring to your attention an incident which occurred on Bank Holiday Monday, August 29.
I had taken my 71-year-old mum to visit the market in Bolton.
We had only just arrived when a man bumped into her and she was quite forcibly knocked to the ground, sustaining some injuries.
A young couple with a family came to the rescue.
Not only did they call an ambulance, but they stayed with her and spoke to her with kindness and respect until the ambulance arrived, along with officials from the event.
There was no apology from the "gentleman" who bumped into her, and he had disappeared without a trace.
My mum was so moved by the kindness of the young couple and upset that someone of a similar age could disappear without even apologising that she contacted the Bolton Evening News.
Sadly, my mum passed away in the early hours of Thursday, September 1.
She had made steps to write this letter, so I feeI I am now carrying out her wishes.
She wanted to let people know that in a society of intimidation and mistrust, it is reassuring to see that there are still young people around in Bolton who will help others.
