YOU have to hand it to children at one Bury school when it comes to bridging the communications gap.
Pupils at Elton Primary School in Alston Street have been learning sign language as part of a development programme to raise their awareness of the deaf culture. Signing is just one of a variety of different ways that deaf children use to communicate. Teacher Mrs Clair Levy said: "As the British Deaf Association are celebrating Learn to Sign Week, we thought it would be fun to learn a little bit more about sign language. The whole school has been involved with activities such as learning to finger spell and learning some new words and phrases in sign language."
