PUPILS at Bury Grammar Girls School looked back on another successful year at their annual prizegiving ceremony.
The school, in Bridge Road, celebrated its best results on record at A-Level and GCSE with a special ceremony at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.
For the first time, all the girls from the senior school attended to watch the presentation of prizes by Dame Professor Nancy Rothwell of Manchester University.
During her speech congratulating the students on their achievements, headteacher Mrs Bobby Georghiou highlighted the upper sixth students passing every single paper and achieving 83 per cent A or B passes with more than 20 pupils each gaining at least three straight A grades.
She said: "There are three key ingredients to such success - the determined study of the girls themselves, the unparalleled dedication and scholarship of our teaching staff and the support of parents."
Other highlights included the extensive range of extra curricular activities, including trips abroad to France, Poland and Germany, which plays a large part in the school year. Mrs Georghiou paid tribute to the teachers who organise the trips and look after the children allowing them to keep their sense of adventure.
She added: "We must always let our girls experience adventure otherwise they will be like the goldfish in the round bowl who, on being released into a pond, continue to swim around in small circles."
