SEASIDE fun was remembered at a reunion in Whitefield.
The Blue Bell pub, on Manchester Road, was a far cry from the beach of Southport but a post-war trip evoked strong memories for those who gathered together at the venue.
The reunion was organised by Dorothy Pointon after she made an appeal in The Prestwich and Whitefield Guide. After finding a black and white photograph of a group of children, she set about tracing as many as she could.
The photo was taken in 1948 during a trip to Southport for the residents of Park Lane in Whitefield.
Miss Pointon (69) said: "We had 14 people at the reunion and we were all having a good reminisce and trying to work out who was who on the photograph."
Apparently, Park Lane was divided into two areas, with one group of residents going by the name of the Cossacks.
Miss Pointon added: "I didn't know this and I understand there were plenty of similar trips out for Park Lane residents but my parents were keen cyclists so my brother and I went with them a lot."
Miss Pointon is now keen to learn more about her Park Lane roots and anyone with information can contact her on (0161) 796 7619.
