THE Bolton Golf Association completed their 2005 season with a resounding 6-2 win against the South Lancs Association at Harwood in an eight-man handicap clash.
The match was dominated by some fine BGA performances including the debut of Kevin Beattie (Harwood), who beat Paul Marrow (Gathurst) 9&8.
Beattie, a former Staffordshire County player, who was giving two shots to his 4-handicap opponent, raced into a commanding lead, finishing four under at the 10th.
Karl Bowker was recalled to the BGA side after a number of years and reversed a two-hole deficit with a 2&1 victory over Paul Colbon of Dean Wood.
Bowker, a two-handicapper from Horwich, recently joined Harwood following his successful outing at the BGA Championship in June when he set a new course record of 66 in the play-offs.
Joe Morris (Chorley) gave another stirling performance with a 5&4 win over Ian Hayes, of Haydock, and Matthew Walsh (Dunscar) held on to his early lead to defeat Andrew Cartwright of Wigan 2&1. Other BGA victories came from Nigel Lowe (Deane) and Ian Meeds (Harwood).
