ANIMAL lovers and conservationists can help to save a great ape by taking part in sponsored walks at Boltons Jumbles Country Park.
Over the last 100 years, populations of orang-utans have declined by around 91 per cent, leaving approximately 30,000 living in the wild.
Now the World Wildlife Fund is organising seven and 10-mile walks around the parks reservoirs and woodland as part of the Walk For Wildlife 2005. Volnteers should meet at 10am on Sunday, October 9 at the Jumbles Information Centre.
Wild orang-utans can now only be found on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra in South-east Asia.
Every walker who takes part will receive a Walk for Wildlife orang-utan badge and thank-you certificate. For more details on these walks, visit:
