EAGLEY crashed out of the Lancashire Amateur Shield, going down 2-1 to Preston League side Blessed Sacrament after extra time.

The Villagers could have no complaints after producing their poorest display of the season.

In an uneventful first half, neither side produced much goalmouth action although Eagley keeper Mark Warren was called upon to make a full length save to his left after a good effort from Blessed's Darren Wogan.

In the second period, the tempo was slightly raised but it was the Preston side who threatened throughout and it was no surprise when, on 80 minutes, following a slip in the Eagley defence, Blessed took the lead, Lee Osborne firing home from 20 yards.

With virtually the last kick of the game the Villagers drew level when Carl Grimshaw volleyed home from 25 yards to take the game to extra time. However, it was only delaying the inevitable as man of the match Ashley Mcmanus put Blessed in front on 95 minutes and through to the next round.

Eagley Reserves won 3-0 at Fullwood with Tony Dalton scoring two goals and Gary Lovatt hitting the other.
