THE Sportsmen moved into second place in Division One of the BSF Over 35s League with a convincing 3-1 win over Dobbies C, who are finding life tough in the top flight after last year's promotion.

Dobbies A are looking menacing as they moved third with a hard fought 2-1 win at De la Salle, thanks to two goals from Darren Whittiker, including a 20-yard screamer.

In Division Two, the Newmarket kept up their perfect start to the season as they beat Old Smithillians 1-0 thanks to a Roy Marsh goal and Daten AFC are close behind after a Norris goal gave them a narrow 1-0 win over Ainsworth A.

The Bay Mare Strollers moved into fourth place after a battling 5-4 win over the Plough which included hat-tricks for the Bay's Paul Nuttall and the Plough's Martin Rouke.

The match also saw Dave Hanley of the Bay Mare score a 40-yard screamer from close to the half way line as well as the rare sight of centre half Andy Hart skipping past the defence, rounding the keeper and coolly slotting home the winner in the last few minutes. The Bowling Green remain top of Division Three after an entertaining 3-3 draw with Real Victoria in a match which could have gone either way.

Walkden Wrecks are a close second after a convincing 5-2 win over Bolton Wyresdale who now prop up the three divisions.

Ainsworth B are third after thrashing Upholland Stanley 8-2, with four goals from Hughie Baird, and Seedfield Vets moved off the bottom with their first win of the season, 1-0 over the Fir Tree.
