RE the article "Prison rapped over English flag tiepins", Bolton Evening News, October 4.
I was absolutely disgusted to read that the Chief Inspector for Prisons, Anne Owers, thinks that the wearing of a Cross of St. George tiepin is in anyway racist or offensive to anyone.
It is more incredible that the prison warders who were wearing the tiepins had been supporting a cancer charity.
To take it one step further, I would suggest that she is being racist against me and millions of other English people, and I find her remarks very offensive.
Why on earth should she be concerned to see a number of staff wearing a flag of St. George tiepin?
Am I missing something here?
Is there something sinister about supporting a charity in this so called enlightened age, that is selling an English emblem ?
I would suggest that Anne Owers should resign her position forthwith, and get a job in the real world.
