EVEN now when I look back on Saturday's game, I still don't feel any better about it.

If we are going to be serious title contenders, we have to be beating the likes of Gravesend. Especially at home.

And it was a good time to play them with Charlie McDonald sidelined and two of their players being substituted through injury quite early in the game.

But we seemed to be labouring, and having two of our most influential players in Paul Mullin and Anthony Barry not at their best didn't help. Anthony is struggling with flu, and I think it's fair to say that was Paul's worst game since he's been with us. He just couldn't get into the game at all.

But I think the team, as a whole, had an off day, and hopefully that's all it was.

As a result, we've done different things in training to try to break things up for the lads.

We've done work in the gym and the swimming pool because, while work on the training ground is important, it's equally vital that we keep them fresh and focused by taking them out of their ordinary routine.

Hopefully we will reap the benefits of tomorrow night.

We have struggled to get good attendances this year, for whatever reason, but I think Hereford United at home is bit more of a glamour game.

Plus Friday night football is something a bit different, and with neither Blackburn or Burnley in action this weekend we'll be hoping to get more through the gates to support us.

Who knows, maybe playing on a Friday night is something that could work for us in the future. After all, Tranmere have done it because of their nearness to Liverpool and Everton.

Whether it's something we'll look at is for the chairman to decide.

But one things for sure, we'll be doing our utmost to entertain those that do come to the Interlink Express Stadium tomorrow night.
