CASES of cancer among young people in Northern England have risen by a quarter since the 1960s, but patients are now much more likely to survive.
Scientists at Newcastle University said more work was needed to fully explain why cancer rates were increasing but beach holidays and use of sunbeds were blamed for skin cancer becoming more common.
Cases of testicular cancer and skin cancer doubled over the 30-year period covered by the researchers' study.
