STONECLOUGH 2, CROSSHILLS 2: Stoneclough's rise up the West Lancashire League Division One was halted on Saturday by a determined Crosshills.
The visitors took the lead through the alert Christenson after 16 minutes.
Hill levelled the scores after 25 minutes with a well placed header following good work by Strange.
Vanderberg put Stoneclough ahead five minutes later when he managed to squeeze in a shot though a crowded penalty area.
It looked like Stoneclough had done the hard work and were on their way to victory. But Crosshills hit back with an equaliser through Whitehill right on the stroke of half-time.
Stoneclough went all out for another goal to clinch the victory which was proving hard to achieve.
They hit the post and the crossbar, but just could not find a way through the Crosshills defence and had to be thankful for a Craig Tebay penalty save to salvage a point.
