IN response to the letter by J Weir of Cranworth Avenue, Astley, last Thursday.

I like the rest of the staff and students at TCEC was shocked to read this article and also somewhat confused. Not having a medical back ground may I ask that you excuse my ignorance, but I have never heard that the natural bodily function of 'blowing wind' could some how increase the chance of spreading any kind of flu strain, however imminent that may be?

Personally, "with everybody blowing wind" as stated by J Weir, the last thing on my mind would be "Oh no I might get a strain of flu". One other thing how could J Weir still smell "last year's paint". With such a keen sense of smell maybe J Weir should give up education and work for the drug squad.

With regards to the comments about the toilets, this has led me to assume that the writer of this letter is male, because the ladies' toilet has new windows that are functional. The gent's toilet has little ventilation but by the time this letter is published it too will have new functional windows.

For the purpose of this reply TCEC runs very popular art classes, but of all the hundreds of people that pass through our doors Mr Weir's complaint stands completely alone with reference to last year's paint

TCEC spends a lot of time and money on improving its conditions, but that can only be done when the finances are available.

At the start of the letter it reads "no windows open" then later on it reads, "someone should be appointed to close windows".

Had Mr Weir voiced his views they would have been answered as best we could, but Mr Weir has not at any time approached any member of staff regarding these issues.

Mr Weir or indeed anybody is invited to come to TCEC and discuss this and any other matter, although all our history, intentions and commitments can be clearly seen on our web site www.tcec20.co.uk
