I wholeheartedly agree with all the comments made by Mr Ian M Law (Septmber 29) regarding the introduction of road humps, etc, on Cherwell Road.
He is correct when he says there is not a problem with speeding traffic on Cherwell Road, and that any minor problems in the past have now been resolved by on-road parking of new residents.
Westhoughton already has a serious congestion problem without Bolton Council obstructing existing roads.
If Bolton Council has excess money, perhaps they could look into building new roads to accommodate several new developments currently under way, or even improving the surfaces of existing roads around Bolton. Hulton Lane and Chorley New Road are two that are in a desperate state of disrepair.
The only nuisance we have on Cherwell Road are youths with noisy mini motors, who will simply be driven on to the pavements when road humps are introduced, making the area more dangerous for pedestrians.
As Mr Law, says this ridiculous plan must be rejected. I am sure Bolton council could use the money more wisely.
