Taken from the Prestwich and Whitefield Guide files of September 5, 1980: SUPERSTAR Fred Hinson earned himself the title of "the OAP's Elvis Presley" after winning the regional final of a talent contest.
Mr Hinson (66) won the local Golden Years Award aimed at finding Britain's sprightliest pensioner and was through to the grand final with the chance of winning £10,000.
