VANDALS left a trail of destruction in an immaculately kept garden in Prestwich. Mr William Kane woke to find his flower beds destroyed and plants strewn across the lawn at his home in Green Walks.
HOUSEHOLDERS were warned to be on their guard after a spate of break-ins. Local CID said thieves had struck in daylight in the Hamilton Road area several times in one week and stolen jewellery worth thousands of pounds.
A FORMER college tutor turned his hobby into a lucrative business. Mr Adrian Sorrell, of Ringley Road, Whitefield, was a bronze sculptor who sold his figures to clients in London, New York and the Middle East.
TEENAGER Paul Evans realised his dream when he signed apprentice forms for Blackpool FC. The 16-year-old, of Heaton Street, Prestwich, had dreamed of joining the professional ranks ever since he was old enough to kick a ball.
