IT WENT under the hammer - but no-one was prepared to stump up the cash necessary to make a piece of woodland at Eagley their own.
The 1.5-acre piece of land failed to meet its reserve at an auction this week. It was put on offer by estate agents, Miller Metcalfe and had a guide price of £5,000 to £10,000.
The land, in a conservation area in Eagley Bank on the south side of Eagley Way, cannot be built upon or otherwise developed.
But auctioneer Alan McNaughton had predicted plenty of interest when it went up for sale at the David Lloyd Leisure Club in Chorley Street, Bolton.
After the auction, Mr McNaughton said: "The land narrowly missed its reserve price despite the interest it generated.
"It will not go up for auction again, but could still be bought should anybody be interested."
If you are interested in buying the land, call Miller Metcalfe on 01204 535353.
