I HAVE read some of the letters both for and against the Holland Nurseries football pitch proposals.

I'm sure the people that are against the idea of giving the local children somewhere to play football would also be the first people to whinge when they see the mindless vandalism when driving around the local area.

The idea of taking children off the streets and giving them an interest in something sounds like a good idea to me.

My eight-year-old child is one who will benefit from the facility, and numerous volunteers will give their own free time to teach not only football, but also discipline and respect.

These local children need better local facilities than what is on offer at local parks.

They need these pitches. Lets face it, pitches would be better than houses, and football better than trashing the neighbourhood.
