IT'S amazing how just a few minutes can change your view on things.
Before kick-off against Morecambe, I was quietly confident. I knew we had nothing to fear against them and thought we would definitely get something out of the game.
But all that changed three minutes after the referee signalled the start of the game.
Having seen the video, we are going to appeal against Chris Butler's sending off because it was harsh to say the least.
At the time, I have to admit my first instincts were to agree with the referee. But having watched the video - which I did about 50 times when I got home after the game - we feel we have a case.
Chris didn't have to lunge as he did, but he did get the ball. The video clearly shows the ball diverting off at an angle. Plus Robbie Williams was in support so Chris wasn't really the last line of defence either.
He was distraught after the game. He's not the most confident person at the best of times anyway, and to just get back into the side it's really bad timing for the lad. It's a massive kick in the teeth for him, but hopefully we can get it rescinded and he'll be available for selection on Saturday.
What I don't have any complaints about, though, is the result considering everything that happened so early in the game, which probably led to us being tired and lacklustre in the second half.
Before the last two away games we said that we would take a draw from each, so in that respect we've still come out winners because we've got a point more than we bargained for.
It came at the expense of having our winning run ended, but the lads are in no doubt that we can pick up on another one soon.
I had text messages off a lot of them yesterday telling me to forget about Tuesday night because they are upbeat and confident we will start another run.
Gravesend won't be an easy game on Saturday, and the events of last year are still raw in our memories so we have to make sure history doesn't repeat itself.
We were in a similar position last year when Gravesend came here and we fell flat on our face as they beat us 2-1. So we've got to bounce back with the two big home games that we've got coming up.
Finally, we feel the decision to let Ged Brannan go by mutual consent was the best option all round.
There hasn't been a fall-out, he just wasn't happy not playing but he understands our reasons.
He was our fourth or fifth choice midfielder and just wants to play football.
