BUILDERS have spent weeks transforming the derelict former Bongs Toffee Shop into yet another main street takeaway.
Sadly the Elliott Street eatery has been attacked before it is even ready.
I noticed one window had been smashed and all the rest daubed.
I don't know if it is a legitimate protest against the increasing number of food shops taking over the town - or just mindless yobbos at it again.
On the same day in Tyldesley I parked in front of three lads sheltering from the rain on the club steps in Lemon Street.
They were having a chippy lunch and as I got out of the car I apologised for spoiling their view.
They were taken aback when I returned with a 5ft high plant to cram into my little car and were kind enough to ask if I wanted any help.
I went off again thinking what decent lads they were, until I came back again to find they had slung their chip trays, wrappings and paper on the ground leaving the area an eyesore.
Then I changed my mind. I cannot understand how anyone can be so scruffy.
