AMIR Khan and Bolton Wanderers mascot Lofty the Lion got a new fleet of Bolton-based buses rolling at The Reebok Stadium.
The eight First buses, which cost £990,000 and are fitted with CCTV security cameras, will be used exclusively on the 575 route from Bolton to Horwich.
They will run every 10 minutes, except on Sundays.
Boxing star Amir said he hoped the upgraded service would encourage more people to leave their cars at home and try the bus.
"I use the bus quite a lot," he said. "I think people are quite surprised to see me travelling by bus, but my younger cousins love going on it and they always want me to take them.
"I think this new service is a great way for people to get around. Travelling by bus cuts down on traffic and helps the environment."
