A COUPLE who found love through the pages of the Bolton Evening News have tied the knot in style.

Sharon Sharples married Ian Shawcross two years after she replied to his message which appeared in our Twos Company columns.

Surrounded by friends and family, the happy couple were married at Mere Hall in Halliwell, before jetting off for their honeymoon in Portugal.

Sharon's 22-year-old son, Jonathan, said: "It was a lovely day for everyone and I was over the moon to see my mum looking so happy."

Divorcee Sharon, aged 44, of Great Lever, admitted it was love at first sight when she met 42-year-old Ian, from Altrincham, after a phone conversation in 2003.

The message which caught her eye read: "Caring 40-year-old man. WLTM woman of the same age. Likes boating, walking, going to the cinema and eating out."

After they met, Sharon soon began to share Ian's love of boating.

It was on one of their frequent trips along the rivers of the North-west that Ian dropped down on to one knee and popped the question.
