WHY does every planning application for Bolton town centre include plans for multi-storey blocks of flats?
Have all the existing new blocks now become occupied?
Not judging by the adverts in the Bolton Evening News Property Guide each week.
The existing building, the George Hotel on Great Moor Street, already towers above its surrounding buildings, and this is only three storeys high. To build an eight-storey block is ridiculous.
Also, who will want to live there, directly opposite the new Magistrates Court and almost next door to the Casino?
It won't be families or the elderly, thats for sure.
At the other end of Great Moor Street, are all the flats in the former school occupied?
The last time I looked, there were 10 For Sale or To Rent signs up there.
Why build more on the opposite side?
As far as I'm concerned, there are already far too many flats in all areas of Bolton, and not enough cheaper houses for sale.
