I have just received a second notification on proposals to introduce traffic restrictions for the Cherwell Road area.
I lodged my objections to the original plans, but they seem to have been ignored. I have lived in this area for 16 years and am only aware of one minor accident.
The new development means cars park on Cherwell Road, hence drivers have to slow or stop already without the need to introduce road narrowing, a lower speed limit and ten speed humps. During term time, cars are double parked by the school, so speeds are down to stop or 5mph.
I will have no choice but to encounter at least five speed humps whichever way I go, and for what reason?
The council is supposed to provide a service for its residents, charges ever increasing amounts of council tax, and is always complaining it doesnt have enough money.
Why, at a time when speed humps are being nationally reviewed and in many parts removed, does this council want to do the opposite? It is not as if the residents (to my knowledge) have demanded action over speeding cars.
This seems a blatant case of spending large amounts of money on something that isnt needed. I have seen no justification for such draconian measures.
