SHE is ready to enter the world of pop with a massive bang - and Bolton-born singer Jessica Moon is pulling no punches about her quest to make it to the top.
The 17-year-old spoke exclusively about her plans to make it big in the music world as she continued to make arrangements for the release of her first single - an upbeat song about love conquests.
The video for the song includes an appearance from boxing star, Amir Khan - as reported in the Bolton Evening News last week - and Jessica believes the two have a lot in common.
She said: "We actually come from quite similar backgrounds. Were both from Bolton and were both dedicated to our professions."
The former Thornleigh Salesian College pupils new song, called Eyes on You, is set to be released on October 24.
After leaving school a year ago and moving to London to work on her music career, Jessica, currently back in her home town, is being widely touted as the next big thing by those in the know in the music industry.
Half English, a quarter Jamaican and a quarter Asian, there is little doubt she shares the same drive and ambition that helped get Olympic silver medalist Khan to the top of his career.
Jessica said: "Amir plays the love interest in the video for my latest single Eyes on You.
"I was thrilled that he agreed to be in it. He plays a boxer and I play a dancer and weve both got our eyes on each other."
The video has already been shown on ITVs Granada Reports and looks likely to national air time in the next couple of weeks. Jessica, who describes her music as a "funky blend of pop, soul and R&B" is hoping the singles success, will pave the way for the release of her as yet untitled album, early next year. She said: "I started taking my music more seriously when I was 14. Im really excited about my new single coming out."
