FOUR attackers left a man unconscious after they attacked him with a broken snooker cue, a golf club and metal bars following a car chase, a court was told.
Jahinder Khan spent a short time in a coma, suffered three skull fractures and cuts to his left arm after the attack on May 24.
Usman Hussain, of Rutherglen Drive, Deane, and Faraset Hussain, of Anfield Road, Daubhill, both aged 18, admitted causing grievous bodily harm at Bolton Crown Court on Friday.
They were sentenced to three-and-a-half years in a young offenders institution.
Geoff Whelan, prosecuting, said "Mr Khan was driving home along Derby Street at around 10am when he saw three men approaching his car and shouting at him, saying he was going to get it".
Mr Khan managed to drive off and take a different route home, but a car caught up with him in Aldersyde Street, Daubhill, a few minutes later. It was carrying four men and was deliberately driven into him.
Four men, including the defendants, who were back seat passengers, got out of the car armed with a broken golf club, a broken snooker cue and metal bars.
Mr Khan asked what they wanted, but they didnt answer and began attacking him.
Mr Whelan said Faraset Hussain hit him twice - once in the face and once in the side of the head, causing serious head injuries.
Usman Hussain then hit Mr Khan three times with a metal bar on his left arm, causing deep gashes.
Police later recovered the car and the weapons and arrested the two defendants. The driver and the front seat passenger are still at large.
Defence lawyers said both men had no previous convictions and the attack was out of character. It was not clear why they had attacked Mr Khan.
