RED white and blue flags were unfurled when Second World War veterans came together for a church VE Day celebration.
The Union flag was also flown at a residential home in Horwich, where victory was remembered in a wartime singalong.
Celebrations at St Mary's Church, Lowton, included tributes to those who lost their lives.
Around 50 people attended the afternoon street party which moved indoors due to the rain.
Later, more than 100 people wearing 1940s dress enjoyed a wartime show.
Navy veteran Alec Hughes said: "The day brought back all the memories of what the war was like.
"It also reminded me of my time in the Navy and the friends I lost."
At St Catherine's Residential Care Home in Horwich residents rolled back the years with wartime songs to mark VE day.
The Derianaires, a charity group which sings for Derian House Children's Hospice, entertained residents, staff and relatives with songs from the wartime era.
