MANUFACTURERS are facing an increasing threat to their competitiveness from rapidly escalating energy costs, according to a new survey.
The Engineering Employers' Federation study of 371 companies showed that 93 per cent had experienced an increase in energy prices over the last twelve months.
Average weighted increases in gas and electricity prices were 47 per cent and 34 per cent respectively.
